Faith Over Fear

Picture
In life, things happen to us, and more times than not we are thrown off by the unexpected. It is easy to have faith until that one thing that you never expected to happen, happens. That one thing throws off your entire course. One thing that I have learned is that it is not what happens to you than matters, it is how you react to it.

You see when life throws us problems the easiest thing to do is react out of fear, and worry. But what would happen if we started acting out of a place of faith? What would happen if instead of being scared we just rested in the fact that no matter the outcome, everything will be okay. I think we often find worry and questioning to be the easiest and most logical thing to do. We often feel worry means we are openly addressing the issue when instead worry often makes our situation worse.

Today I want to remind you, like I had to remind myself that worry does not have to consume you, worry does not have to define who you are! I want to encourage you to stop allowing fear to lead your life and start allowing yourself to be lead by faith. Hebrews 11:1 says:

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (KJV)

Our faith should never be in what we see of this earth, it should be in God. Sometimes I think it is so easy to look to place trust in the things that we see but the Bible says faith is the substance of things hoped for, and evidence of things not seen. Now you may ask what does this mean. Let’s break this down:

  • Substance of things hoped for: Substance is translated confidence, meaning we have confidence that in the things that we believe in. As followers of Christ we must have a confidence in God, that he will supply our needs.
  • Evidence of things not seen: We must have the same confidence in God, whom we can not see, as we do in the things that we can see.

So faith requires you to have confidence in a God that you can not see. When you have confidence in God, you are trusting him, you are trusting his ways and you are trusting his plans. While you may not know what next week holds, and you may not know how you are going to work things out, God does. So today lets stop putting our confidence in things and people and start placing our confidence and trust in the one is for us!

Until next time,

Tamika
